Suarez will travel to Miami in December to discuss contractual terms with the club.

Meanwhile, the Herons have already dropped star forward Josef Martinez, leaving room on the squad for Suarez.

Suarez is having a lot of success in Brazil despite his knee problems.

The former Premier League Golden Boot winner joined Gremio in December 2022 and has made 37 appearances, scoring 17 goals.

‘A lot can happen before the end of the year,’ Gremio president Alberto Guerra said of Suarez’s status.

‘We are highly focused on the classification search (a la Libertadores). If the opportunity to negotiate with Suárez emerges, we will speak at the appropriate time.

‘Of course, we want him to stay, but the most recent report indicates that he will go at the end of the year.’

Despite the fact that his time at Gremio looks to be coming to an end, Suarez expressed his gratitude to the club and its fans.

‘I committed to the club to try to play as many games as I can,’ Suarez explained. ‘It’s my way of repaying them for their efforts. Renato told me not to attend to training after the games because I needed to relax, but I went because my loyalty to the team is unwavering.’

Suarez scored 198 goals for Barcelona between 2014 and 2020. Suarez, who joined Barcelona from Liverpool a year ago, was instrumental in the club’s five-trophies season in 2015.

Inter Miami signed Messi to a record contract in 2023, paving the way for Alba and Busquets to join. Despite missing out on the MLS Playoffs, Messi helped Miami win the League Cup and reach the US Open Cup final.
